Your month and the spending limit

Each plan includes a month of use for all your apps together. It starts again on the first day of every month.

What counts

• Requests. Each time your app is asked for something: a page opened, a form sent, the app fetching data. The checks the platform makes every few minutes to keep your app quick do not count.
• App running time. How long your app's code is busy answering, multiplied by how much memory it has. One GB-hour is an app with 1 GB of memory busy for a whole hour. Most small apps have half a gigabyte, so for them one GB-hour is two hours of busy time. An app nobody is using uses none.
• Build minutes. How long it takes to build each new version of your app, rounded up to the minute. A build that fails because of something in the app counts; one that fails because of something on our side does not. An Android build of a phone app runs on a larger machine, so each of its minutes counts as three: one build uses about 40.
• Translated pages. One page of your site put into one language. Words your app draws on screen count as one page for every 500 words. A page past your plan's number is never charged and never pauses anything: it stays in your own language until the month starts again. See Your app in other languages.

The billing page shows how much of the month your apps have used, and each app's page shows its own share.

When a month is used up

Your apps pause, usually within a minute. People who open them see a calm page saying so. Nothing is deleted: the apps, their data and their settings stay exactly as they were. You get an email when your apps are four fifths of the way there, and another when they pause. The bell at the top of your dashboard says the same.

They come back by themselves at the start of the next month, or straight away if you add Uarpie credit or move to a bigger plan. Once the build minutes are used up, new deploys wait too, and your AI is told why.

Going past your plan

On a paid plan, Uarpie credit keeps your apps going when the month is used up. Use above the plan comes out of the credit as it happens:

Busy hours come out of the same credit. Files and translated pages never do: past your plan, new uploads wait until there is room, and translations wait for the next month.

Nothing is ever added to your bill. Use above your plan only comes out of credit you have already added. Amounts are in US dollars of credit; where tax applies, it is added when you buy the credit.

Without credit, a paid plan works as described above: your apps pause when the plan's requests or running time are used up, and new builds wait once its build minutes are.

The spending limit

The spending limit is the most of your credit that use above your plan can take in a month. It stops one busy month, or one app gone wrong, from using up all your credit at once.

Change it on the billing page, anywhere from $0 up to the most. It cannot be taken off, and one limit covers all your apps.

Your apps pause when either runs out: the credit, or the month's limit. They come back at the start of the next month, or straight away when you add credit or raise the limit.

Why we can promise this

We count what your apps use ourselves, about every minute, and pause them ourselves. We do not wait for a bill from the cloud underneath, which arrives hours later. So the gap between reaching what your month allows and your apps pausing is about a minute.
