Building for clients
Make an app for someone else, then hand it over to their own account.
If you build apps for other people, a shop for a business or a site for a friend, you can put the app online on your own account and then hand it over. Your client claims it onto their own account. From then on their plan holds it and pays for its builds and its use, and you can go on building it.
How it works
- Put it online signed in. Deploy the app with your own account (
npx uarpie loginfirst, if your AI is not signed in). It is yours for now, like any app of yours. - Hand it to your client. On the app's page, choose Hand it to a client. Type their email and we send them a link to claim it; only that address can use it. Or leave the email out, copy the link, and send it however you like.
- They claim it. They open the link, sign in with their email (no password; signing in makes their account if they are new), and choose Claim it. If their plan has no room for another app, they are asked to choose one first, and the same link still works afterwards.
Until your client claims it, the app is on your account and your plan pays for it. Your list shows it under Client apps, marked Not claimed yet.
If nobody claims it
A client's app that nobody claims is removed 7 days after you first handed it over, with its versions and its data, as an app nobody keeps is. We email you two days before. To stop that at any time, choose Keep it on my account on its page: it becomes an ordinary app of yours, and nothing removes it.
Sending a new link replaces the old one, but does not move the day.
After they claim it
- It is theirs. It moves to their account, and their plan pays for it from that moment.
- It stays in your list under Client apps, marked Claimed.
- You can go on building it: deploy new versions, change its settings, read its logs, and connect a domain they own. Builds you start are paid by their plan.
- Some things are theirs alone: removing the app, inviting or removing people, buying a domain, and paid extras such as busy hours. If you try one of them, you are asked to have your client do it.
- They can take you off the app at any time, under Who can open it.
Categories
With several clients, put their apps in categories: your own folders, one for each client, say. Each app sits in one. Choose one when you hand an app over, or on the app's page, and add, rename or remove them with Categories above your client apps. Only you see them.
From your AI
This shop is for my client Jane. Put it online and send her the link to claim it.
Your AI deploys it signed in, then runs npx uarpie client jane@herbusiness.com --category "Jane's shop", or uses the hand_to_client tool if it has Uarpie's tools installed. npx uarpie client --keep keeps it on your own account instead.
